Riverdale is a TV drama series based on the Archie Comics from 1939 and created by Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa. The series takes place in a small fictional town called Riverdale.

In the Archie Comics, the main characters solve mysteries. But in Riverdale, the story revolves around the main characters and a death that happened in their town. The main characters are Archie Andrews, Betty Cooper, Veronica Lodge, Jughead Jones, and Cheryl Blossom. The pilot episode begins with a voiceover by Jughead. He starts to explain about of the town of Riverdale. He says that the story begins with the Blossom twins and the untimely death of Jason Blossom.

Archie Andrews (K.J. Apa) is a sophomore football player who wants to perform and write his own music, but doesn’t have the approval of his father or his coach. Archie and his friends Betty (Lili Reinhart), Veronica (Camila Mendes), Jughead (Cole Sprouse), and Cheryl (Madelaine Petsch) all deal with the death of Cheryl’s brother Jason and the backlash caused by it.

The CW picked up Riverdale in May 2016 and the series premiered January of 2017. The program was renewed for a second season. Fans think that it’s a really great show that leaves you on edge and is always interesting.  The series has a rating of 8 out of 10 on IMDb.

As for myself, I think the show is enjoyable because of the fact that it is based on comics from the 1930’s and because of how drama-filled it is. During some episodes you’re never really sure what will happen next. There always seems to be some twist or turn in the episodes. And for that I give Riverdale five paws.
