A blue hedgehog with the ability to move fast will make it to theaters! Eventually that is. This spiny runner goes by Sonic, a protagonist of the Sonic the Hedgehog video game series released by Sega as well as numerous spin-off comics, animations, and other media. He has the ability to run at supersonic speeds and curl into a ball, primarily to attack enemies.

On April 30th, Paramount officially uploaded the teaser trailer for its upcoming Sonic the Hedgehog movie on YouTube weighing nearly 30Mil. views with a whopping 600k dislikes topping the like ratio. The internet went absolutely mad over Sonic’s appearance in the teaser. The hedgehog didn’t quite have the proper look  Sonic the viewers know and love. To break some of it down, Sonic is supposed to have gloves, but in the trailer it shows that he has white hands.Next would be his limbs which was instead of the classic beige look, the arms and legs are blue. And as for his eyes was the fat issue to many, they are supposed to look large and fused together, but in the teaser showed that they made his eyes separated and small. With these issues, led to quite many followers of the movie on the internet to make their own fixes of his appearance, or yet made it look un-usual.

On May 2nd 2019, the director of the movie Jeff Fowler responded to the crisis on his twitter account.

“Thank you for the support. And the Criticism. The message is loud and clear…You aren’t happy with the design and you want changes. It’s going to happen. Everyone at Paramount and Sega are fully committed to making this character the BEST he can be… #sonicmovie #gottafixfast,” said Jeff Fowler.

It was so bad that Rob Letterman, who directed the movie Detective Pikachu, shared his thoughts on Fowler’s Sonic the Hedgehog in an article by Julia Alexander, a reporter with The Verge.

“Just heard about the Sonic situation 15 minutes ago,” he said. “There’s no right or wrong to how you make one of these movies. It would be very difficult for us to redesign anything. We spent a year designing all the characters ahead of shooting so that we could get it all right. If we were off by an inch on Pikachu, Justice Smith’s performance would go right out the window. For us, it would have been impossible – but that doesn’t mean they can’t do it. I wouldn’t want to be in their shoes – they’re in a difficult spot.”
